The solution of a difficult case

Working at the job I love with people that are fun, lovely and true friends! Also, not job related – moved to Scotland! 😊

I met American actor Walter Jones (Power Rangers) last week in Dundee – he is apparently a professional dancer too and I met him dancing salsa 😊 (I’ve never watched Power Rangers so only realised he is an actor after someone told me who he is 😃)

I would love to be able to play the piano. I’ve tried learning an instrument at home (guitar and piano) but haven’t had much success. If I could pick it up instantly that would be amazing.

Flight. I love travelling to new places and having the ability to fly would give you so much freedom and save you a lot of money as a bonus.

I love being able to find the reasons behind the numbers. Comparing our current reports with previous periods/years and investigating the positive or negative differences can be challenging at times but for me it’s always rewarding to find out why the differences are there.

I absolutely love living in Scotland but having visited Toronto + having family there I think that’s the only other place I’d consider living in.

A pilot.

My current phone background is a photo I took of a Formula 1 car going down the start / finish straight at Silverstone last year. I chose this as I’d been an F1 fan for years and it was a bit of a dream coming true making it to a race weekend.

I’d get rid of procrastination. I always say I’ll learn more about investing or hit my gym goals, but I just end up wasting too much time.

Now that I am officially reaching middle age and with the hindsight of years and experience, my older self would be only glad to help my younger self. When I was younger my strength was the ability to get things done on time and to a high standard. What I learned as I read and experienced more is I could have enjoyed the ride more by asking the right people for help in getting stuff done. I would have enjoyed the collaborative experience and with the end result being better.

Working in IT since I was 17, you see technology come and go and change, we work day to day. Like most people my age, I started out without email then learning how to adapt and react to managing email, or letting it manage me. After reading David Allen's book "Getting Things Done" I unlearned the way Outlook was managing me and I got back control.

The IBM 704 was one the first Supercomputers ever made that could synthesise speech and was even set up one occasion to perform the song Daisy Bell in 1961 at Bell Labs.

Driving the Van to make deliveries or fix things on site.

Trying to be in touch with my creative side and do something with my hands so I can stay far away from a keyboard (or my phone). I’m a relatively new cross-stitch enthusiast, veteran but far from good in crochet, love to cook for family and friends, and recently my evenings include a lot of play-dough creations 😊

I could easily talk about Time Management for an hour or even more! From a business-as-usual workday to managing projects, and even extending outside of work to tackling housekeeping. I have an array of tips and tricks to happily share with the world.

Westeros would be a cool choice, but the downside is that no one survives very long so I would need to take my chances with George R. R. Martin. But I would definitely love to spend my retirement in the Shire with the Hobbits although preferably during a boring era!

No one who is great at something was always great at it.

Time, what couldn’t you do with infinite time?

The singular for spaghetti is spaghetto.

I have always fancied travelling Europe/US to specifically sample all the biggest stadiums. The other I checked off this year, visiting Netherlands to experience A State of Trance festival weekend – still on the come down from that 😊

My favourite season is summer as I love the sunshine and the long evenings. The bright extended daylight gives me more time to enjoy being outside or just unwind.

I was always schooled with: if you’re asked to do something, just do it, don’t question it and don’t create a fuss about doing it.

“Spread your wings and dance”

I would move to Spain or Italy – definitely somewhere close to the sea/beach. I love the weather in these countries - I could dance my favourite Latino dances every night and eat delicious, fresh food!

In my previous job I was hired by my current boss’s wife.

An introvert by preference but extrovert by nature!

Getting an affectionate ‘head bump/nudge’ from the cats – it always make my heart smile 😊 and yes, even when they are merely trying to trick me into providing an early meal!
